2nd Surgery 2/5/2019

Wow, writer's block is a thing...had no idea. It is either that or I am just having a hard time writing about this. I am going to go with a little bit of both. Good thing there is no such thing as a deadline for my blog.  😄

One of my very bests and I went to get pedicures the Sunday before surgery because I knew I was not going to be able to bend over to make sure I had good looking toes for awhile. Let me tell you that was the best thing we could have done! Knowing you are going into surgery with fresh feet, feels great.  We went to Evolve Salon and Spa and the experience was AMAZING! I will let the pictures say the rest.

Why, yes we are tipped back with eye masks, headphones and a warm blanket!

This time around, I thought we were very prepared for the recovery process. And we were, we had Fennel tea, Gas Relief all for the bloat and all the uncomfortable-ness that comes with that. I was very excited to get the process going and getting this disease out of me. My dad was too....can't you tell?

Surgery was about 5 hours, 2 hours longer than expected. There was a lot of scar tissue that my dr had to get through in order to even get to the endometriosis. I also had one very deep pocket of endo and they found endo on my ovaries, uterus and rectum. By the time I was semi-coherent, it was 9:45 pm, since the surgery went longer than anticipated and then I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia, they decided to keep me overnight....yay (sarcasm).

I cannot remember anything besides the conversation about how jealous I was my family was going to Green (our favorite vegan restaurant) without me with the nurse at 1:30 pm. on Tuesday to around Friday morning. Being someone who hasn't taken anything stronger than an Excedrin Migraine in forever, the meds they gave me wore me out! The pain killer made me nauseous, the nausea med was making me tired, then it burned....oh my gosh!  I do think the best part was the bladder test I had to pass before leaving...no one tells you about that. Well, they insert a liquid into your bladder and they have to make sure you get it all out, I was an over achiever and peed out 100 mL more than I needed too, to make sure I got to go home soon! I really pray I NEVER have to do all that again.

My view at around 7am, 2/6
Since my husband is so awesome and knew I couldn't eat anything at the hospital he got me a doughnut from Nami, the dessert equivalent to Green.

Once I got home all I did was sleep, for about 50 hours. I would wake up for a little bit respond to messages. But any conversation I had between Tuesday to Friday morning is a HUGE blur. My aunt came to visit me on Friday afternoon to give Nick a caretaker break, and that was fun. It is always nice talking to extended family! Also later that day I received the nicest get well gift, my endo sister that I met a few weeks before sent me flowers and a teddy bear.

There is a saying within the Endo community...(please no one take offense to this, just a saying for us because a lot of friends and family really do not understand how we are feeling or what we go through). This rings so true, I have gained several sisters within different groups and meetings that it feels great to know that there are some women out there that truly understand!

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, sent cards, care packages while I recover. They have truly brightened my days and the acts of kindness is so appreciated.

Next steps:
* I have pelvic floor physical therapy that I will be starting back up again soon. We have been working on re-training my bladder...yes that is a thing.
* More on recovery
* Keeping up with my natural remedies to treat any pain and hopefully slow down the growth of the endometriosis so no more extensive surgeries.
* Organizing something for Endometriosis Awareness Month, which is March! There is an Endo March on March 30 but there isn't one in AZ and I don't have time to start that this year, but hopefully some kind of meet up for us.
* If you have any questions in regard to anything please email me at whenlifegivesyouendo@gmail.com

Upcoming Topics:
* My natural remedies and ALL the lifestyle changes we have done to keep this disease in check.
* More women's stories on their endo journey, pain journey, other natural remedies stories.
