But Have you Tried Yoga?

When I first saw this statement, I rolled my eyes. REALLY? Yoga, that is going to help me?? OK!
I have not always been one to put my foot in my mouth when I am wrong, but this time I did.
I am now obsessed with yoga and love trying new techniques whenever I can.

Yoga Nidra
A state in which the body is completely relaxed and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of verbal instructions. This state of consciousness is different from meditation, in which concentration on a single focus is required Yes I paid $25 to take an hour-long nap. And let me just say it was worth it! It was hard to take pictures of this practice, but I practiced this at True Hot Yoga and it was truly AMAZING.

Yoga At Home
The most beneficial practice I have been doing is at home with ChriskaYoga. Christina has SO many options from no wrist yoga, to weight loss and my favorite, for the pelvic floor. She has also started a new series for your period! Christina is going through each phase of the menstrual cycle and has a yoga sequence for each phase. I want to start this from the beginning, so I have not started it yet, but I am very excited to start especially since her pelvic floor sequences have been very beneficial to my endo pain.

Aerial Yoga
This practice has been so out of my comfort zone, but it has definitely been the most fun! Basically, we do yoga moves in silks hanging from the ceiling. Elevate aerial yoga has helped with my spine, lengthening and stretching like nothing else I have tried! I have had amazing instructors the few times I have been and it has a blast every time. Honestly, it hasn't been beneficial to my endo healing, because of where the silks land when we are flipping about, but it has been fun.

Overall, yoga has helped with my anxiety and has been a reminder to stretch and breathe. I am not sure scientifically if it has helped with the endo, but it has helped with the mental health aspect of this chronic illness. If you are interested in any of these practices, below is each place I referenced in this post. Also, a special thank you to a couple of friends who went with me to try these different practices!

When Life Gives You Endo....just try yoga.
